At Least It's Raining

I've now had three days at work and what an information overload it has been! I've been trying to get my head around basic routines and expectations, as well as the 'Art and Science of Teaching'... but at the moment I'm feeling quite overwhelmed to be honest. Although I'm not complaining because I have had a lot of support from the people at work and especially the prep team. I know I'm very lucky to have these experienced ladies around me who are generous and willing to help me get through my initial stages in teaching.
Today was a busy day. I'm glad there is a three day weekend coming up so that I can catch up with everything and do some planning for the following week and hopefully the next one as well... (that may be wishful thinking, but I'm going to try).
Anyway, aside from how hectic life is at the moment, today we have been blessed with some rain which has releived us of the summer heat and is giving the garden a nice watering. Apparently the rain is going to continue over the weekend so I guess that that will be good working weather.

First Day At Work

Today was my first day at work and it was a good day. I got up this morning and went down to the beach with Nath and Rabbit. I walked Rabbit and Nath ran. It felt like a nice way to start the day and spend some time before work with my husband and our puppy. As I was walking along the esplanade, I felt very lucky to be living on the coast. It is a beautiful thing to be able to go down to the beach and see the early morning sun.

We then came home and got ready for work and had breakfast. I was feeling nervous as 8.00am drew nearer but Nath, who is such a support to me, helped me to be brave and before long I was pulling up outside the school.

Today was a real information overload for me, as I had expected, and I decided to just try to take in as much as I could and then accept that I will just learn the rest as I go along. There is a lot more to the profession of teaching than people think. By the end of the day I had a splitting headache but I feel grateful to have a team of experienced professionals working with me in the prep grade and am feeling happy about going back again tomorrow.

The Last Day Of Holidays

Today is the last day of our holidays. How blessed we have been to have had such a wonderful break and for being able to spend it with each other, with our little dog Rabbit, our families, and friends.
We have seen and experienced new things together. Our Tasmania trip has certainly been a highlight of 2012.
We have had fun at the beach, at the movies, shopping, and relaxing at home.
We have unexpectably had some great opportunities to make some changes around the house to make it into our home. Gardening, organising cupboards and rooms, decorating, building a deck; these are some of  the things that we didn't plan to do these holidays and somehow we found ourselves doing them. It was so great to work alongside my husband in these tasks and to accomplish these little things which make our home really feel like ours.

I hope that we will be able to have these same experiences this year, even if we are a little more busy than usual. Let's not forget that work is just a means to making a living and living is how we make a life.

A New Chapter

This may help me to remember that this next new chapter of our lives is a good thing and to not be afraid of moving on into it.
I'll support you Nath, and you'll support me. We'll be okay.

Be The Person Your Dog Thinks You Are

Rabbit, I will aspire to be the way you see me.
Your unconditional love and love of life is a humbling and inspiring thing. Thank you for all of your loving looks, enthusiastic 'welcome homes', the cuddles, and the puppy play that makes me laugh.
I am a better person for having you in my life, little boy.
I love you Pupup.

Do All Things With Love

This little saying, I will treat as a goal.
Even when the tasks asked of me seem unfair, pointless, unnescessary, or even just too hard, I will try to do all things with love.
